Riding Lessons

Beginners learn on older school horses the basic mechanics of Western or English Hunt Seat riding. Students will focus on balance, positioning,  seat, and the basic aids. We do not offer jumping in our facility, but can refer you to hunter/jumper barns who offer jumping programs.

Riding Lessons and Groundwork Training

We are currently offering both English and Western riding lessons at our facility.  We have a beginner package that starts from the ground-up-- allowing the student to know and understand the horse, how to properly groom and tack up the horse, and the correct way to manage the horse on the ground. This provides a foundation for safe riding and for bonding with the horse, not just simply hopping on for a ride. Out 4 package price using our school horse is $225.

"You do for the horse, and the horse will do for you."

Our lessons are taught by Heidi Hogan. Her program begins with teaching the student to understand the horse and it's behavior. The mutual trust between the horse and student builds upon this knowledge and understanding.. Her training program emphasizes mutual respect between horse and rider, self-discipline and athletic conditioning. The importance of rider, horse and spectator safety is also emphasized. We will initially consult with you and assess your and your horse's skills. Then, your goals are realistically set and discussed along with a sensible, fun and safe program.

Our groundwork and equine behavior training philosophy is stepping back to assess the horse's cause of the behavior or issue, and identifying how it should be corrected. Many behavior issues are caused from past trauma, either physical or emotional, and we will help you identify and correct the issues so your horse can be a calm and safe partner for you! Many behavioral issues are caused by uneducated owners who are unknowingly teaching bad habits, and we can address and correct this as well.
